Privacy/Confidentiality
Directory Information
“Public Directory Information” is information not generally considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed. Effective November 17, 2020, the College has designated the following information as “Public Directory Information”:
- Full name of student
- City of residence
- County of residence
- Major and field(s) of study
- Degrees and awards including nature and date received
- Dates of attendance
- Enrollment status
- Name of institution last attended
- Participation in official activities and sports
- Weight and height of members of athletic teams
FERPA Consent Form
Student may complete a FERPA Consent Form to allow the release of the records for a designated time period to any individual listed on the form. Consent may be revoked in writing at any time. For previous students/alumni, you will need to complete the Alumni FERPA Consent Form to place the request.
Restrict Release of Records
You have the right to restrict the release of directory information. Making your records confidential means you will be required to come to Augusta Technical College in person with a picture ID to discuss or receive copies of your records. You will not be able to remotely request a transcript, release information to a third parties such as potential employers, or have your name listed in the graduation program.
For previous students/alumni, you will need to complete the Alumni Restrict Release of Records Request.
FERPA
FERPA stands for the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. This legislation protects the privacy of student records and regulates how the information is utilized. These are your rights and it is to your benefit to familiarize yourself with them. Please see FERPA to learn more regarding the privacy of records.
